Browse and Verify Generated Artifacts in Hermes Desktop

The Desktop Artifacts view turns recent session outputs into a searchable gallery of images, files, and links. It is more than a download shelf: every item retains a route back to the session that produced it, which makes provenance review and follow-up work faster.

Find the output and its context

Open Artifacts from the sidebar, the command palette entry Artifacts — Browse generated outputs, or a custom nav.artifacts shortcut. Search or browse by media type, then open a preview. Available actions can include download, open in browser, and copy.

Before sharing an output, use the producing-session link to answer three questions: what did the user request, what sources or files were used, and what verification actually ran? A polished preview is not proof that a file is correct, current, safe, or complete.

Artifact review checklist

Open the artifact from the indexed gallery rather than guessing a filesystem path.
Jump to the producing session and read the request plus final verification.
Confirm the filename, format, dimensions or page count, and intended audience.
Scan previews for secrets, private paths, personal data, and accidental internal notes.
Download or open the real file; do not approve from a thumbnail alone.
For links, verify the exact destination and access boundary in a fresh session.
Keep the session reference when handing off an item that may need revision.

Common pitfalls

Treating recent as authoritative. A newer-looking artifact may be a draft or failed attempt.
Approving from the gallery tile. Small previews hide clipping, bad typography, corrupt pages, and wrong crops.
Losing provenance after download. Preserve a meaningful filename and the producing-session link.
Sharing sensitive outputs from a screen recording. Artifact titles and thumbnails can reveal private work even when file contents are not opened.

Verification

Choose one image, one file, and one link from a safe test session. Confirm each opens, its source session is reachable, and the available action behaves as labeled. The release gate is the real output plus traceable context—not merely an attractive gallery card.
